MOD for the Dark Desires Server
MOD Version 5.2.0 (30 June 2017)
The MOD adds a currency to the game. A single coin called 'Scale'. It is relatively high value, worth like about five gold if you compare to AoC or perhaps about £20 to compare to today's real money. There are no smaller or bigger denominations. You cannot give change. There is a reason for this...
The story is that Derketo gave the Scales to her followers in the exiles to help them survive. The exiles are more suited to tough fighters and not all Derketo's followers are as tough as other groups. This put them at a disadvantage. With the introduction of the Derketo Coin, followers can buy items that would usually need to be learned and crafted or heavily farmed. Sometimes it is a race between two clans about who can craft steel the fastest and get steel weapons, for example. Well, Derketo follower can buy steel with Scales without even needed to race and learn how to craft it.
The Scale was introduced in the Exiles long before the House of Nepthys first sister had arrived, it is now spread around, and non-followers have acquired some Scales too. They will often sell material to trade post to get coins and also trade with the sisterhood for services.
You can buy and sell several raw materials at the Trade Post.

Large Chest (T2) | 1 |

Fire Arrows | 200 |
Steel Pick | 1 |
Steel Hatchet | 1 |
There is also a varsity of stone statues you can get from a local artist at a cost of 18 to 27 Scales. Also, some pedestals and brick to put the statues on. There is also a very tall column.
You can also sell your unwanted materials, like the large quantity of flesh that some animals give out. You will get one Scale for the following:
Flesh type | Amount needed |
Feral Flesh | 1000 |
Savory Flesh | 750 |
Exotic Flesh | 500 |
For a lot of players, that can be very fun, because a lot of us do not like gathering materials. You can go out, get some Scales and avoid gathering altogether. I will be adding more products and items with future versions of the MOD.
Other things the MOD changes are:
- Chairs and stools can be use by any players now, not just the player or clan that built it.
- You can built a large chest now, called Large Public chest. This is the same as the normal Large chest, except that everyone can use it too, not just the character or clan that created it. You get this recipe at the same time as the recipe for the normal large chest at no extra cost.
- You now get the Trader feat free at character creation. No need to be level 10 anymore or spend any skill points. This is easier for starting players.
- The furnace holds more materials.
How to install the MOD:
Just like the game the MOD works through Steam. Once the MOD is installed on the server, when you try to join it, you will be told that you need the MOD to play on this server. To get the MOD, search on the Steam Conan Exiles Workshop for the MOD called Dark Desires and subscribe to it.
Once you are subscribed to it and start the game, it will download the MOD, it is fairly big, about 800MB. Steam will show you the progress like if it was an update to the game. Once updated, go to the MODs section from the main menu. There you will see the Dark Desires MOD on the left column, using the arrows, move the Dark Desires MOD to the active column, the one in the middle. Then Restart the game.
That is it; you should be able to join the server now and play with the MOD.
Please post any comments and also if you want to buy things that are not available with Scales, let me know, and I will add them.

You can also download the MOD, DD.pak and a text file modlist.txt that needs to go in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Mods\ directory, here on the forum.
Go to the gallery and there is a files section.
here are the links:

The Mod is all installed and running for me, so all seems to work so far. Not sure about the naming for the currency though... Deketo Coin, or DC.. seems a little too modern to me. How about since the design on the coin is a mermaid image, and because a coin is a round disc.. calling them 'Scales'?
Also.. maybe move the Hide buy/sell from the Armourer to the Tanner? or add a buy/sell for food at a campfire/bonfire?
Only other idea I could think of on the currency, and not sure this is a good one or not... maybe only allow the buy/sell at crafting stations that have a thrall? That'd give us more incentive to go out and find the skilled thralls. Maybe even have slightly different pricing for the different tiers of thrall?
Wow, really good ideas!
I think I will do them all! I like the name you though of, I will see what I can do. I am learning a lot with the Dev tool.
Thank you for you really good feed back.
A big update to the MOD is coming soon. We made a lot of changes.
- The currency has now a more lore oriented name, Scales.
- There is a new feat that you must learn to do any trading with the merchant.
- All the other feats are no longer changed by the mod. This will avoid having to reset your Feats with this MOD and any updates.
- There is a new interactive NPC building that can be placed where all trading is done. This building can be built outside and will allow you to go trade your raw materials and Scales.
- All tradable items are now traded at the Merchant House.
- The Merchant House is a tier 2 buildable item.
- A few more recipes were added, but more are coming.
Those changes will be ready by the weekend, please let me know what you think.

MAJOR UPDATE OF THE MOD!
Hello all I just pushed a major update of the MOD. Version 3.0
It changes the way the trading works and also addresses a lot of issues.
The currency is now called Scales. It works the same way, only one type of coin given to the Exiles by Derketo to help her followers and balance the Exiles world a bit. Everyone in the game can use the new Scales, but the main reason for it was for Derketo's followers to have a way to trade services with the other exiles.
All the different things you can buy and sell are now done from a trading post, not from the crafting stations. The trading posts are not buildable by the players and characters. They will be pre-built and put around the map. I have already built 2 and put them on the map. One near the broken bridge by the starting area and the other just across the big hand near the centre of the map.
Once you reach level 10, you can learn the Trader feat and start trading with the trading post. At the trading post, you can sell resources to make Scales. Once you have Scales, you can trade them with other characters or buy premade items at the Trading post. You can even buy a few premade item that you do not have a recipe for or that are even way above your level. This is a very valuable commodity.
Here is a picture of the trading post by the broken bridge.
Let me know what you think...

An other update to the MOD.
You should have version 3.1 now, you can check in the game menu, in the MODs sections. It should say the version when you select the Dark Desires MOD.
The update is for a few more recipes available at the Trade Post and a few fix. Please let me know of any requests and problems.
I was ask to add the Dancer's outfit to the Trade post, I will do that. Also I am looking at a way to trade Thralls. So there could be a "Slave Auction" organized. IC the Sisterhood would not like that too much, but that can only create more stories.
